Cost:
- Inter-library loan (ILL) is free to authorized users
- ILL makes every attempt to borrow items from libraries that do not charge fees. However, some libraries do charge fees for items. The patron is responsible for any charges assessed by the lending library. (Please note: We are able to obtain articles from libraries that charge for copies if the patron is willing to pay the fee for the article. This fee typically runs between $10-15, but may occasionally be more.)
- ILL items that are lost or damaged will be charged to the patron.

Delivery Time
- ILL requests are normally processed the next business day after they are received in the ILL office.
- Allow at least 1 to 2 weeks for book delivery.
- Articles typically arrive within 2-4 days, but may occasionally take longer.
- Exact delivery date is determined by the response of the lending library. This cannot be guaranteed, so it is important to request items for research projects well in advance.

Loan Periods
- Loan periods are determined by the lending library. Generally the loan period is approximately 30 days, beginning on the date when the lending library ships the book, not when it arrives at Jennings Library.
- Requests for renewals must be submitted through the ILL system.
- Renewal is not guaranteed, and is granted at the discretion of the lending library.
- Items marked "In Library Use Only" must not leave the building.
- Copies of articles and book chapters will be available in your ILL account for five views over 30 days, and are then deleted from the server. It is recommended that you download your articles, which will allow you to keep them indefinitely.

Notification
- Patrons will be notified by text or email when an ILL item has been received. You can select if you would like to be notified by e-mail, text, or both under "Communication Preferences"
- Articles and book chapters are typically posted to a patron's ILL account. However, some publishers' licensing restrictions prevent libraries from sharing articles electronically. In these cases, the article will be available for pickup at the Jennings Library information desk.
- Patrons will be notified of any requests that cannot be filled or other problems.
- In order to receive notifications, please ensure your contact information is up to date and do not opt out of receiving notifications

Overdue Fines and Policies
- If an item is not returned within 14 days after the due date, you will be blocked from submitting any new requests in ILL. We also reserve the right to place a hold on your account with the Registrar if an item is not returned within 30 days after the due date. These blocks will not be removed until the item is returned.
- ILL items lost or not returned 30 days past the due date might incur fines or fees as determined by the lending library.
- Excessive or frequent overdues will result in permanent suspension of ILL privileges.
