Using the Library During COVID-19: Home

We are excited to welcome you back to the library. Our updated policies and procedures were carefully considered because the safety of students and staff is our top priority.

Social Distancing at the Library

The front door will be the only entrance/exit to the library. If you are not able to use the front steps to enter, please ring the bell at the Alumni Theater entrance and a staff member will assist you.
When entering the library, please check-in at our welcome desk.
You will be required to wear a face mask and maintain social distancing from others at all times.
There will be no food or eating allowed in the library.
All furniture has been rearranged to accommodate social distancing. Some seating will not be available. Please do not move furniture.
Some computers will be unavailable due to social distancing. Please adhere to signage at the computers by wiping down the keyboard/mouse before and after use.
Printing will be available. Please adhere to signage for social distancing and cleaning the release station.
All group study rooms will now be single occupancy. You can book a study room by using the new library appointment software above. 
First priority access for the study rooms and the study carrels on the first floor will be given to the students who have remote and in-person classes back-to-back on the same day.

Circulation

Books & Devices

Patrons will not be allowed in the stacks so please ask a librarian to retrieve your book for checkout or use Library Takeout.

Devices will be checked out for the entire semester. Chromebooks will be checked out on a 'first-come, first-served' basis starting 8/31.

ILL

Interlibrary Loan is operating on a limited basis. We will try to borrow physical books through ILL  when possible. Book requests are subject to the lending library's COVID-19 policy. Journal articles may be available. For ILL questions, please email ill@caldwell.edu.

Study Rooms

There are 3 study rooms on the 2nd floor of the library.  During this time, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 we are allowing 1 student per study room. Study rooms are available for 2 hours.  You may book a study room when you book a visit to the library.  First priority access for the study rooms and the study carrels on the first floor will be given to the students who have remote and in-person classes back-to-back on the same day. Book a Visit to the Library

Students are required to book their visit to the library so we don't exceed maximum occupancy.  You may book a library visit for a minimum of 15 minutes and a maximum of 3 hours.  Click below to book a visit.

Library Takeout

We are pleased to offer Library Takeout as an option for contactless pickup of Jennings Library books. The service will be offered on Thursdays from 11:00am - 3:00pm.  Book a time, then fill out the form to request your books. After your request is approved by library staff, you will get a confirmation email with further instructions.  Your books will be in a bag with your name on it on a table outside of the Alumni Theatre entrance of the library. 

Important details:

Please request items at least 24 hours in advance. You MUST wear a mask in accordance with CDC guidelines and practice social distancing. Return books to the dropbox outside of Jennings Library.

Free eBook Access

The National Emergency Library was a temporary collection of books that supported emergency remote teaching, research activities, independent scholarship, and intellectual stimulation while universities, schools, training centers, and libraries were closed due to COVID-19. The National Emergency Library launched on March 24, 2020, and closed on June 16, 2020.

After June 16, books in the National Emergency Library are available to one borrower at a time using controlled digital lending. Browse our library.

 

Library Instruction & Workshops

Faculty are encouraged to reach out to the librarians in their subject areas to coordinate virtual instruction via Google Hangouts Meet (GHM) or Zoom, or other alternate means.

Workshops will take place as scheduled, but online. They will be recorded and the recorded sessions will be made available.

Off Campus Access

You don't have to be in the Library to access articles and databases.

The Library's resources can be accessed anytime, anywhere with your NetID and password.

Caldwell University Writing Center

The Writing Center is still providing services to all students. Sessions will be provided remotely and writing tutors are available for appointments during their regularly scheduled hours.

To schedule an appointment, sign into CougarApps and choose CougarLink. Once in CougarLink choose Tutoring / Writing Center and then New Tutoring / Writing Center Appointment. Once your appointment is approved, the tutor will reach out to you regarding how the remote appointment will proceed (phone, google chat, hangout, etc.)

Students who are having difficulty with CougarApps should reach out to HelpDesk@caldwell.edu. You can also go directly to https://caldwell-insight.symplicity.com/students/ and login with your NetID credentials to access CougarLink.
